There are several. I have known her since the early 1960s. She was the best friend of my aunt, Idella White, and through that friendship she met my mother, Mary Ella Boatner, and they too became lifelong good friends. She became a San Diego Unified School District school teacher in the mid-1960s and taught for just over 30 years. We were so proud of her! She remained a constant and faithful friend to my aunt and mother over the decades -- all the way up to March 5th. She remained loyal and supportive of me too. I became a fallen lawyer in the early 1990s, and Loraine was very supportive of me during that difficult time. She did not think less of me and said that she was still proud of me. My mother and I last spoke to her just before Thanksgiving 2025. I now treasure those last conversations. Rest in peace, Loraine! We will see you on the other side when our time comes too. There is nothing better than a good and steady friend like you!
My husband and I met Mother Loraine Cooper on a tour in Israel. She literally tripped into lives in Bethlehem. She was 79 or 80 years old. She was thankful that her daughter Gwen encouraged her to go. Mother Loraine was very brave when she got baptized in the Jordan River. She said the Holy Land trip was the best she had ever taken.
Mother Loraine told me about a time where the family had a barbeque at the house and her son Kenneth cooked. She said the food was so good.
There was also the time when her son Gary took her to a jazz club for her birthday. She had such a good time.
She also told me that she had a good son in-law, Walter. He would come over and fix household issues.
She and I would talk often for hours on the phone. She would say, "we talked a big hill into a stump." She would say various Texas saying that would make you chuckle. I know she is at home with the Lord now! Loraine Cooper will truly be missed.
